Owning your customer data means owning your uptime too. Bondhu CRM ships self-hostable for exactly that reason — but self-hosting is a trade, not a free upgrade. Here's an honest accounting of both sides before you move off a hosted CRM.
Every conversation, order and phone number lives on infrastructure you control. No vendor can change terms, raise prices on your own data, or get acquired by someone whose privacy posture you didn't sign up for.
You can export, migrate, or modify the system on your own schedule — not whenever a provider's roadmap allows it.
Custom automations, internal integrations, and workflow changes that a hosted product would treat as a feature request become something your own team can just build.
When the hosted version goes down, that's someone else's pager going off at 2am. When you self-host, it's yours — or nobody's, which is worse.
Database backups, dependency updates, and security patches don't apply themselves. Skipping them is how self-hosted systems quietly become the least-secure part of a business.
The official WhatsApp Business API isn't a drop-in — template approval, webhook reliability, and rate limits all become things your team is responsible for keeping healthy, not a vendor's support queue.
Self-hosting makes sense once you have a team that can own infrastructure as a real responsibility — not a side task for whoever's free. If that's not true yet, a hosted setup with a credible export path is very often the better decision, not a lesser one.
Self-hosting isn't a badge of seriousness. It's a staffing decision disguised as a technical one.
Auto-replies and order automation across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram — start hosted, move to self-hosted whenever it's actually the right call.
